AHLA-logoThe Hospitality Asset Managers Association (HAMA) has made a gift of $50,000 to the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation to create a named scholarship fund, which will support the educational development of students pursuing an undergraduate degree in hospitality management. The gift will benefit AH&LEF’s Annual Scholarship Program.

As the Foundation’s largest scholarship program, the Annual Scholarship Grant Program is co-administered with 85 universities and colleges nationwide that are affiliated with AH&LEF. Each year, the participating schools are allocated a scholarship grant in which they select the individual students on their campuses to be recipients of the scholarship monies based on a set of minimum eligibility criteria designated by AH&LEF.

“HAMA strives to provide education for our members as well as students interested in the hospitality industry. Therefore, we are thrilled to support American Hotel & Lodging Education Foundation with our gift,” said Michael Doyle, HAMA president.

This year 237 students received $318,500 in scholarships through the Annual Scholarship Grant Program, which is funded from proceeds of the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), the Foundation’s Annual Giving Campaign, previous AH&LEF capital campaigns, annual special events, as well as a dozen named scholarship funds.

“We applaud this commitment to the lodging industry and look forward to our partnership with the Hospitality Asset Managers Association to create a better future for the lodging industry,” said AH&LEF President/COO Joori Jeon. “These scholarships will have a significant impact for many future hoteliers.”
