Hospitality Cup category introduced to the Standard Chartered Bank Marathon

Published on : Wednesday, April 9, 2014

jersey-logoThe new Hospitality Cup category has been introduced to the Standard Chartered Bank Marathon being held on Sunday 5th October this year. The category is open to anyone and everyone from the tourism, catering & hospitality industries who puts a team together for the Mourant Ozannes Relay Race and entries are now welcome for all those eager to take part in this wonderful international sporting event.

The introduction of the Cup came from local businesses, El Tico Beach Cantina, Mange Tout & The Salty Dog Bar & Bistro, all of whom entered teams in the 2013 marathon. To their astonishment, the Salty-Tico team, came in 43rd out of a total of 269 relay teams, which to them, proved the point that it is possible to work hard and run hard! The group also known as The Fabulous Food Project, want to give island hospitality businesses an avenue to challenge and inspire their employees to get fit, get healthy and get involved in this incredible community event. Not only does their sponsorship ensure the top three teams will receive trophies, they will also win a slap up celebratory supper at The Salty Dog Bistro.

The aim of introducing this Category is to inspire and encourage as many teams from across the industry to sign up and get involved, to give them the opportunity to use the marathon as an avenue to promote healthy lifestyle to their workforce and to reap the rewards of the positive energy generated in the preparatory lead up to the event and of course enjoy the incredible excitement and sense of achievement in taking part in the marathon itself.

The F.F.P. believe the positive impact and confidence boost on employees will be infectious and it will filter right through to the front line, which in this industry is where it counts the most. We all know a happy workforce means happy customers which should result in a happy business! Of course being involved in the marathon and indeed winning the Cup will naturally provide a great opportunity to raise funds for charity and create some exciting marketing opportunities not least in the publicity of taking part on the day but also for individual businesses and hotel groups in marketing this fantastic international sports event to potential visitors at the tail end of our summer season.

We are therefore delighted to announce, that we, El Tico Beach Cantina, Mange Tout & The Salty Dog Bar & Bistro, (AKA The Fabulous Food Project) will be proud sponsors of the Relay Race Hospitality Cup 2014. We invite you to print and put up the Hospitality Cup Promotional Poster and the attached Official Application Form and get yourselves ready for the big day.
