download11The renowned Maasai Mara game reserve Hotels recorded low bookings during the Easter festivities as foreign tourists stayed away due to security concern. Andrew Mungatana, National Chairman Tour Guides and Drivers Association, said that locals have done most bookings as foreigners chosen Tanzania and South Africa.

The government has to intensify its fight against terror or else we lose out on tourism which is one of the highest foreigner earners.”
According to the majority of the camp managers, they had recorded slightly half bookings.

Caleb Taabu, Ngerende Highland Lodge manager said, “They had 12 local tourists who had booked for three days. After they leave we shall have only two others coming. The season has been really bad. These are the only bookings we have for this month.”

In order to regain the confidence of the tourist, Taabu requested the government to tighten security in all tourists attraction centres. He is also hopeful that the industry will boost up during the high season that begins in July.
