ictp-300x137The ICTP has released for HAWAII, USA; BRUSSELS, Belgium; VICTORIA, Seychelles; BALI, Indonesia the following press release.

ICTP Vice Chairman Alain St.Ange (Tourism & Culture Minister Seychelles) and ICTP President Professor Geoffrey Lipman, attended last night’s incredibly professional and entertaining Ulysses Awards Ceremony held with IFEMA the organizer of the FITUR Trade fair.

They are pictured here with Marthinus van Schalkwyk, Minister of Tourism of the Republic South Africa, one of the leading global thinkers on Travel, Tourism and Development.

As a “base of the pyramid” organization committed to green growth and quality ICTP generally doesn’t get enthused about the Awards circuit, which tends to be hyper commercially driven. This event was in that respect very low key, but in every other way, was a shining example of how to recognize quality and to do it in an engaging way.

The speeches were short and to the point, the finalists were well selected and globally represented and the lifetime Prizewinner Richard Quest, beaming in from the World Economic Forum in Davos was a worthy champion of this sector. His witty and sincere acceptance remarks, delivered in his unique way brought the audience to its feet.

So ICTP wants to give a virtual award to UNWTO, its tireless and smart Secretary General Taleb Rifai and his great team of Marcelo Risi and Eunji Tae who just put on a another winning event for our industry.
