KILKENNY SAYS ?GUTEN TAG? TO INFLUENTIAL GERMAN JOURNALISTA leading journalist, representing the German Press Agency (dpa – Deutche Presse-Agentur), one of the world’s foremost news agencies, has been visiting Ireland this week. Invited here by Tourism Ireland in Frankfurt, Ms Daniela David is here to sample the fantastic equestrian experience on offer in Ireland for a feature story she is planning on holidays and short breaks in Ireland.

Her action-packed itinerary – designed by Fáilte Ireland – included visits to Crossogue Equestrian Centre near Thurles, Clonshire Equestrian Centre in Adare, Mount Juliet in Thomastown, Brennanstown Equestrian Centre in Bray, as well as The Curragh and the Irish National Stud in Kildare.

Zoë Redmond, Tourism Ireland’s manager for Central Europe, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ms David to Ireland. She has been really impressed by our wonderful equestrian product, the superb quality of our food, as well as by the wonderful scenery and the friendliness of the people she met. Fact-finding visits like this are a very important element of our overall programme of promotions, helping us to spread the word about holidays in Ireland through the media in Germany.

“Germany is one of Ireland’s ‘top four’ markets for overseas tourism and the outlook for 2013 is positive, with the latest CSO figures for the high season months of July-September showing growth of almost +7%, when compared with the same three-month period in 2012. Tourism Ireland is rolling out its autumn campaign right now in Germany to keep this momentum going – targeting late-season travellers and highlighting what makes a holiday here unique and truly memorable.”

In 2012, there were over 1,400 media visits to the island of Ireland, which helped to generate articles and broadcasts around the globe worth about €50 million in equivalent advertising value.
