itb_berlinTravel and event managers have to take decisions with the future in mind. That applies to their everyday business but also to the success factors for achieving added value. Very shortly, they will be gathering again at their established meeting place, at the ITB Business Travel Days in Berlin. From 5 to 7 March 2014, over a period of three days, the world’s leading travel trade show will be providing advanced training on methods, strategies and tools for immediate use in the business travel and event management sector.
The slogan of the Business Travel Hands-On Day on 6 March 2014 is “Creating added value for today.“ Topics at the plenary session will include “Successful communication in travel management“, “Travel management statistics“ and “Total trip management.“ Workshop events will examine “Benchmarking“ and the latest issues regarding vehicle fleets.
On 6 and 7 March the Business Travel Strategy Day will discuss demographic change and its impact on business travel. Its slogan is “Knowing what is important tomorrow.” Other topics will include compliance and the 2015-2020 agenda for Travel Management Companies (TMCs).
ITB 2014 will also address those involved in supervising employees abroad. On 7 March a themed event with high-profile experts will examine how to efficiently manage employees abroad. Those taking part in the plenary session and workshops can find out about guidelines for delegating and the importance of possessing knowledge of other cultures.
On 5 March 2014, under the heading of “in touch with the future“, the MICE Day will feature papers with practical information. These will provide an insight into technological advances and their possible uses in the events industry. The current trend is away from lecturing and towards interactive forms of conveying knowledge. Virtual events can not only save costs but can also supplement actual events by broadening one’s horizon.
On 5 March 2014 the Young Professional Day will be addressing career starters and academically qualified young employees. Featured topics will include case studies on cooperation between universities and private industry as well as unusual careers in the business travel sector. Concrete help will also be available to those in search of work experience.
Speakers and panel guests belonging to well-known trade associations will ensure a high standard of lectures at the event. Among the associations represented will be Bund der Auslands-Erwerbstätigen, Bundesverband Fuhrparkmanagement, Bundesverband Materialwirtschaft, Einkauf und Logistik (BME), Verband Deutsches Reisemanagement (VDR) and Vereinigung Deutscher Veranstaltungsorganisatoren.
Two exclusive events will again be devoted to providing decision-makers and senior executives with networking opportunities: the “Home of Business Travel by ITB & VDR” in Hall 7.1a and the ”ITB Corporate MICE Lounge by HSMA“ in Hall 8.1.
A trade visitor pass for the duration of ITB Berlin costs 48 euros (when purchased online) and grants free admission to all seminars at the ITB Business Travel Days. Travel managers and event planners can also take advantage of a travel special which includes the trip to the show, accommodation arrangements and other facilities.
