Ctrip, China’s largest online travel agency revealed that Japan has been the most popular overseas destination for Chinese tourists during the seven-day National Day holiday.
The China National Tourism Administration observed that the number of Chinese tourists to Japan has doubled during the holiday compared to last year. More flights routes from the mainland to Japan, cheaper plane tickets and a weakened yen have contributed to an influx of Chinese tourists in Japan, reports China News Service.
Japan Tourism Agency revealed that the number of Chinese visitors was 2.18 million for the first half of this year, more than double last year’s figures.
According to the CNBC reports, the Chinese citizens continue to spend vast amounts despite the country’s luxury goods market being hit by anti-corruption drives and a weaker yen, choosing to do so in Japan, Europe and Korea rather than at home.
