JetBlue Launches Its Southernmost Destination: Lima, Peru

JetBlueJetBlue Airways today begins daily nonstop service from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood to Lima, Peru. The new route is part of the airline’s continuous expansion at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood airport, where JetBluenow offers nonstop flights to 25 destinations, three of which are in South America. Lima isJetBlue’s 81st destination.

“Latin America is a strong, growing market for us, and we’re excited to extend our presence inSouth America by adding Peru to the JetBlue network. Customers in South Florida now have more options on JetBlue for a great experience at a lower price point.” said Robin Hayes,JetBlue’s chief commercial officer. “Lima is one of South America’s main business capitals and also one of the continent’s most exciting tourist destinations.”

“On the fifteenth year anniversary of the signing of an Open Skies agreement between Peru and the U.S., we are happy to see another U.S. carrier offer their services to the people of Peru,” saidMichael J. Fitzpatrick, Chargé d’Affaires, U.S. Embassy, Lima, Perú.

“We are excited about the prospects that this new JetBlue flight brings to Lima, and the opportunities for continued tourism and trade development between the United States and Peru,” said Ricardo Romero, Director of the Trade Commission of Peru, Los Angeles. “This improvement in the connection between our countries has many positive implications, and will prove to be a rewarding venture, which we hope leads to the growth in new routes to Peru.”

The new Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood-Lima schedule allows for convenient connections to/from other destinations in the United States and the Caribbean including: Boston, Mass; New York (JFK, LaGuardia and White Plains); Newark, NJ; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Washington, DC (Reagan National).

JetBlue’s flights between Fort Lauderdale and Lima, Peru, will be operated with its Airbus A320 fleet and will offer its award-winning service featuring convenient, assigned seating; a first-checked bag free (a); complimentary and unlimited name brand snacks and non-alcoholic/soft drinks; comfy leather seats; free first-run movies on seatback televisions (b); and more legroom than any other carrier in coach (c).
