Kenya Airways to showcase fleet at Kenya Air Show Festival

kenya-airwaysKenya Airways will be showcasing its modern state-of-the-art fleet during the Kenya Air Show Festival that will be held on 21st and 22nd of December as part of activities to mark the 50thanniversaryof Kenya’s Independence.

During the event at the Wilson Airport in Nairobi, which is billed as the largest festival of its kind in Africa, aviation enthusiasts will get an opportunity to view the airline’s soon to be acquired Boeing 787 Dreamliner model at the static display area. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is one of the most modern aircrafts manufactured to date. It is part of a family of airplanes carrying between 200 to 300 passengers on routes between 3,500 and 8,500 nautical miles (6,500 to 16,000 kilometers).

Additionally, Kenya Airways’ Embraer E190 jet will be amongst the aircrafts featuring in the amazing air display which also includes, Kenya Air Force, South African Air Force, helicopters, skydivers and a raft of private and commercial pilots.

Kenya Airways’ Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Titus Naikuni said that the Kenya Air Show is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements that the airline has made so far.

“As we mark Kenya’s 50th anniversary, we are also celebrating our achievements which includes growth in our fleet and network of destinations. Today, we have the most modern fleet in Africa; and are looking forward to enhancing it further with the expected delivery of two more 777-300ER aircrafts and the Dreamliner in 2014,” Dr Naikuni added.

Apart from the Embraer E190 jets flying past, there will also be displays from the Kenya Air Force, South African Air Force, helicopters, skydivers and a raft of private and commercial pilots.

According to the Aero Club of East Africa, the organisers of the Kenya Air Show Festival, thousands of aviation enthusiasts are expected during the two day festival that has attracted key players in the aviation industry.
