Kiwi Link courts South American sellers

Published on : Friday, September 9, 2016

New-Zealand-Tourism-300x203Tourism New Zealand is taking 23 tourism operators from across New Zealand to Buenos Aires and São Paulo for the inaugural Tourism New Zealand Kiwi Link South America event. The event is a key activity to unlock both future markets of Argentina and Brazil.

“New Zealand is starting to attract increasing numbers of travellers from Argentina and Brazil – with Argentinian arrivals growing 200% to 12,200 over the last year and Brazil remaining stable at 12,700 arrivals (IVA, YE JUL16). A big part of itineraries from both markets is organised through travel agents. The main purpose of Tourism New Zealand’s Kiwi Link event is to connect these travel sellers with New Zealand tourism operators in person and get a real feel for what they can offer their customers,” says Bjoern Spreitzer, Tourism New Zealand’s General Manager Americas & Europe.

Kiwi Link South America began yesterday in Buenos Aires. Over two days the New Zealand tourism operators will meet with over 40 product managers and 130 travel agents from Argentina. The group will then travel to São Paulo to meet with 50 product managers and 130 travel agentsfrom across Brazil between 14–15 September.

“It is an amazing opportunity to develop new business relationships, increase the diversity of travellers’ itineraries, and at the same time educate and upskill the South American travel industry on New Zealand,” says Bjoern.

The Kiwi Link event also specifically supports Air New Zealand’s direct service from Buenos Aires to Auckland. The flight has operated in Argentina since November 2015 and provides good connections across Argentina and Brazil.
