La-Manga-ClubLa Manga Club’s renewed association with the PGAs of Europe is one of the most eye-catching developments to take place in the golf industry this winter and bookings are now open for the officially-sanctioned international pro-am that will take place early next year.

Once the continental European base of the PGAs of Europe, the luxury Spanish venue has revived its relationship with the organisation and will host the 1st La Manga Club International Pro-Am from March 7-11, 2014.

The tournament will see 30 teams from across the continent – made up of one professional and three amateurs – gather at La Manga Club to contest an overall prize fund in excess of €20,000 (based on 20 teams) – and golfers can claim a place in the event for just €750 per person by booking before December 15.

Participants will compete over 54 holes on the resort’s acclaimed South and West courses for an array of individual and team honours, with packages costing €2,250 per team prior to the early booking deadline (professionals go free) including tournament entry, one practice round and practice balls each day.

In addition, the packages – which are based on two people sharing a room – feature four nights’ bed and breakfast accommodation in La Manga Club’s five-star Hotel Principe Felipe, a welcome reception, light lunch on the four competition days and prize-giving gala dinner and ceremony.

Players, who must have a valid handicap certificate, will also enjoy complimentary use of Spa La Manga Club’s fitness centre, indoor pool, saunas and steam rooms and dinner discounts at selected restaurants around the resort, while breaks are also available for non-golfers with prices from €595 per person.

The tournament will be the second major international event that La Manga Club will stage early next year, with the resort also set to host the 2014 Spanish Seniors Amateur Championship in February.

Having celebrated its 40th birthday last year, La Manga Club – set in an area three times the size of Monaco – continues to set the benchmark for sports and leisure destinations across Europe.

Widely recognised as Spain’s flagship venue, its recent golfing highlights include hosting the 2013 Spanish International Amateur Championship and being voted as the best golf resort in Spain by UK readers of Today’s Golfer magazine for the last two years.

As well as golf, the resort boasts unrivalled facilities as a sports and leisure destination including a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 20 bars and restaurants.
