Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, one of Continental Europe’s top 100 golf courses has enhanced is reputation as an elite host venue, after successfully welcoming the biennial Nations Cup Adapted Golf between 7th and 9th November. Organized by the Spanish Golf Federation in partnership with the European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA), the hugely successful event took advantage of 31 degree temperatures, championship golf course, on-site accommodation facilities and a warm Spanish welcome.
Cristobal Guerrero, Las Colinas Golf & Country Club Managing Director said: “The Nations Cup is a fantastic promotion of the game for disabled golfers worldwide and also provided us with a great opportunity to introduce our championship golf course and expanding facilities to an increasing number of international travellers.”
The Nations Cup Adapted Golf tournament, belonging to the European Disabled Golf Association calendar, is the equivalent to the European Team National Championships. The competition welcomed seventeen teams representing nations across Europe to take part in the end of year finale for disabled golf, inviting each European nation to submit up to two teams consisting of four players each. At the top of the leaderboard at the end of play, the French national team finished three shots clear of a strong Danish side. Great Britain, winners of the last three editions, finished in third place ahead of Spain in 4th place. The home team did not go home empty handed however, presented with the 1st place stableford prize by Mr. Gonzaga Escauriaza Barreiro, President of the Spanish Golf Federation during the official prize giving dinner.
Offering a world apart, Las Colinas Golf & Country Club has received high praise as a host venue from the highest echelons of the industry, welcoming back European Tour Qualifying School Stage 2 earlier this month. Located south of Alicante along the Mediterranean coast, in the region of Valencia the Cabell B. Robinson designed par-71, 6,973 yard championship course is perfectly manicured with rolling fairways and fast putting surfaces, managed by world leader Troon Golf.
Competitors took advantage of luxury accommodation in the two or three bedroomed fully equipped apartments and villas at the Las Colinas Residences. The Residences have been created with the natural environment at front of mind and quality and privacy are inherent in their design. Idyllic in their location, each apartment or villa has either private gardens or terraces and are served by green spaces and communal pools.
