displaymediaLondon Gatwick today launches its resident pick up discount scheme – designed specifically to save residents and local communities money when regularly using short stay car parks at the airport. Local residents can benefit from the scheme as of today.

For the sum of £20, local citizens of postcodes RH, GU, BN and TN can benefit from 250 visits a year to Gatwick short stay car parks for 20 minutes or less – making it ideal for people who pick up friends and family regularly.

The equivalent of arriving 250 times and paying separately would cost residents £750 – meaning this new scheme offers a saving of up to £730 across the year. Residents will be able to add three car registration numbers per account – allowing a whole family to benefit from the 250 pick-ups.

Gary Wallace, Head of Car Parks at London Gatwick, said: “We always look for opportunities to reward our most loyal passengers, and in this case people from the local area can really benefit from this scheme. We want passengers to have the best experience possible, and we recognise that for people who pick up regularly from the airport, this will be ideal for them. This discount goes hand-in-hand with Gatwick already offering free drop-off to all passengers.”

Peter Hall, Chairman of GATCOM’s* Passenger Advisory Group, said: “We are pleased to have represented the views of the local community to London Gatwick’s management and to have been involved in the development of the scheme. We are confident it will benefit local residents who frequently pick up air and rail passengers from the airport.”

The local discount scheme follows the launch of Gatwick’s Approved Off-Airport Parking scheme which was introduced to give passengers a choice of safe and reliable parking operators. Run in partnership with the British Parking Association, each operator has to prove that their facilities are professional and secure. Companies also have to demonstrate that they offer customers an excellent level of service.

Suppliers who make the grade and become part of the scheme will have adhered to both the Trading Standards-approved Buy with Confidence and ParkMark approval processes. This means they can display these logos on their websites, giving customers instant assurance that they making the right choice of parking operator.
