Michael Seabrook, President and CEO, London International Airport is excited about offering this new direct destination to both business and leisure travellers in Southern Ontario: “With just a 90 minute flight time, passengers can leave London early in the morning, be in New York in time for business and return home that same evening. It
also makes it more feasible to book a weekend getaway in the Big Apple and enjoy all the sports, culture and dining of one of the most fabulous cities in the world.”

Brad Rice, Business Development Manager at London International Airport is also excited about the international connecting opportunities that are available through Newark: “We now have a new gateway to the Eastern Seaboard.

United’s Newark hub provides excellent connecting opportunities throughout the United States and to destinations in
Europe. We couldn’t be more pleased” said Rice.

Two flights depart London daily:
6:01 am, arriving in Newark at 7:30 am
4:39 pm, arriving in Newark at 6:08 pm
Two flights depart Newark daily:
2:30 pm, arriving in London at 4:04 pm
7:39 pm, arriving in London at 10:13 pm

United Express regional partner ExpressJet will operate the flights using 50-seat regional jet aircraft.

Seasoned travellers often prefer Newark Liberty International Airport to LaGuardia or JFK airports because of its modern terminal and faster access to downtown New York City.
Research commissioned by the London International Airport in 2013 showed passengers loved the convenience of their local airport, especially compared with the time and hassle of driving to Toronto or Detroit.

Being able to be home just minutes after landing, even from an international trip or vacation, was also high on their list of praise. At the same time, passengers pushed for more direct flights and international connections. Now with direct United Airlines flights to two of the marquee destinations in North America, Chicago and New York – and with a wide array of connection possibilities — southwestern Ontario travel agents and passengers can book flights from London to practically anywhere in the world.

“We’re working hard on making air travel ‘easy and comfortable’ for our passengers,” said Seabrook. “From our people, to our website, parking, easy check-in and security, a modern lounge with free WIFI and a new restaurant and bar – all of these are important to our goal of making the London International Airport experience the easiest, most comfortable and stress–free possible.”

Kapil Lakhotia, President & CEO at London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), praised the London International Airport for being proactive. “Excellent infrastructure, convenience and modern facilities make the London International Airport an ideal choice for London companies. The Airport’s growing list of direct and connecting flights provide easy access to customers, suppliers and global business networks.

The Airport is a vital asset in providing quality transportation access for companies looking to establish in London.” Joni Baechler, Mayor, City of London, welcomes this additional destination. “The London International Airport is a key component of our city’s growth. This New York destination expands our presence internationally both for existing businesses in London, and for potential new opportunities. Accessible, quick, easy transportation by air
is a vital consideration for anyone in today’s world economy.

“ The Greater London International Airport Authority (GLIAA) currently handles nearly 500,000 passengers annually with flights to Calgary, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto, Chicago, vacation charters to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba and Florida, and cruise connections to Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Renovations in 2009 expanded the airport’s capacity to handle over one million passengers. Air Canada, United Airlines, WestJet, Sunwing Vacations, Transat Vacations, and Celebrity Cruises all offer flights from London. Close to 50 flights depart and arrive at the London International Airport daily.
