London-Mayor-opposes-third-Heathrow-runway-300x206The London Mayor, Boris Johnson has completely rebuffed the plan of the Heathrow runway calling it a disaster. He feels that it is a barbaric attempt at expansion that will put the health of the population at stake.

The chairman of the Airports Commission Sir Howard Davies is expected to dismiss the proposal of the Mayor for a four way runway airport in the Thames estuary.

Mayor Johnson is being coaxed by the Heathrow’s new chief executive John Holland-Kaye who wrote an open letter to him asking him to support the cause. Owing to the pressure in Heathrow, it is either important to expand the airport or build a new airport in the Thames estuary, to keep up with the global race of meeting passenger traffic.

The mayor feels that the people living close to the third airport runway will live under grave peril as the new runway will cause permanent damage to their health.

Heathrow is already counted as the third noisiest airport after Paris which is worse. The proximity of the runway to the residential areas will suggest that more than a million people will be affected by the noise pollution which will go way beyond 55db.
