When attending FITUR, Lopesan Hotel Group pointed out its bet for the environment, providing information to the tourist agents and visitors of the application and the development of a sustainable management model called EcoLopesan, committed to be environmentally friendly and rationalize resource consumption.
Tourism is one of the main economic sectors and one of the fastest growing sectors worldwide requiring a lot of energy consumption, representing approximately 5% of carbon emissions worldwide. Being decided to lower this rate, the tourist sector is committed to seize the initiative relating to some of the most ambitious and innovative clean energies.
For these reasons, Lopesan Hotel Group has developed EcoLopesan, a sustainable management model implemented in all its facilities. The use of the sun as energy source marks a significant reduction of CO2 emissions and a high annual production of green energy. Thanks to this strategy, the, waste generation has been reduced in last five years by more than 50% are aggregated for its reuse and recycling. Furthermore, by the installation and implementation of clean energies Lopesan Gruop has avoided the emission into the atmosphere of not less than 9.000 Tm of CO2 per year.
The green energy consumption and production of the facilities of the Group can be followed in real time on the website available for its follow-up bearing under the name – Lopesan Green Energies Information Point– showing the green energy production, as well as the CO2 savings in all its hotels of Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura and its equivalent in trees planted.
