lufthansaDecision is valid until further notice / this concerns flights by Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines from Frankfurt and Vienna / Group airlines continue to make a detour around Iraqi airspace in transit traffic as well Following a reassessment of the security situation in Iraq, the Lufthansa Group continues to suspend its flights to Erbil until further notice.

Affected by this decision are flights by Austrian Airlines, which usually offers daily services to the city in Iraq from Vienna, as well as flights by Lufthansa, which operates to Erbil from Frankfurt twice a week.

Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines regret any inconvenience that these short-notice cancellations may cause their customers.

The safety of passengers and crews, however, remains the company’s highest priority.

In transit traffic, for example on flights to Asia and the Middle East, the airlines of the Lufthansa Group will continue to make a detour around Iraqi airspace as well.

The Group remains in close and regular contact with the relevant national security authorities regarding all questions of airspace safety.
