The latest gong to find its place in the hotel’s award cabinet is Hotel of the Year which the team won at this year’s Lancashire Business Awards, held in June. Through public votes, the awards showcase the county’s leading businesses, business leaders, entrepreneurs and decision makers from Lancashire’s business community.

The hotel and its team were recognised for the consistent helpful and friendly service they deliver, the quality of food they serve and a series of successful networking events. This was coupled with the positive impact of a number of internal senior management appointments boosted by investment in the property and product.

Macdonald Tickled Trout Hotel’s General Manager, Bethan Johnston, has also been highly decorated this year, comfortably positioning herself as one of Lancashire’s rising stars in the hospitality and service sector by personally winning two awards and nominated for one more. She was presented with the Chief Executives Award for contribution to Lancashireat the Lancashire Business Awards as well as Best in Hospitality and Service at the Lancashire Women in Business Awards. She was also named as ‘One to Watch’ at the Northern Power Women Awards 2015.

Bethan first joined Macdonald Hotels when she was 15 years old, and has since worked across nearly all areas of the industry, as well as undergoing management qualifications. After leaving the group for a number of years, Bethan returned to the company as Tickled Trout’s hotel manager in late 2014, and has worked to grow the restaurant and conference business by 15%.

The hotel was also listed as a finalist of the Large Hotel of the Yearaward at the Lancashire Tourism Awards and shortlisted as Business of the Yea rat the Lancashire Women in Business Awards.

Bethan Johnston said: “I am so proud of what the team has achieved since I joined the hotel. We’ve gone from strength to strength, and we’re continuing to invest in the property and the team to improve the product and service we provide for our customers. It’s great to be recognised by our guests, our corporate peers and colleagues in the tourism industry and we will continue to deliver our award winning service.
