Auckland-PromotedWhite Noise will be making plenty of noise in Wellington Wednesday both before and during the All Whites clash with Mexico.

But White Noise spokesman Michael Greene said fans would be having a good time well before the game gets underway.

“There’ll be sombreros, pinatas, Mexican mariachi bands and what not, so we’re looking for a fun-filled day and possibly keep the vibe going in the stadium.”

Michael Greene says fans aren’t expecting the All Whites to head to Brazil next year, but would just like a decent performance from the side.

Positively Wellington Tourism chief executive David Perks says half of those with tickets have come from outside Wellington, while coverage of the match will reach a global audience.

“On the world’s television screens and across digital channels, showing Wellington as a city that is hosting a game that’ll be watched by millions of people, particularly in Latin America and Mexico.”

He says about 37,000 fans are expected to be at the match.

“We’re expecting something that will exceed the 2009 All Whites playoff match, which was
about $7 million of impact on the city.”

Some roads were closed before and after the All Whites match against Mexico in Wellington.

Bunny Street was closed at the intersection with Featherston Street, and there were no right turn from Waterloo Quay from 6.00PM.

There was access for taxis and private vehicles to get to the Wellington Railway Station.

Following the game, a number of streets were closed from 8.30PM to 10.00PM in Thorndon, in the area next to Westpac Stadium.
