Malaysia Airlines announced revised rates for check-in luggage

Malaysia-AirlineEffective 28 May 2014, Malaysia Airlines’ passengers will be allowed to check-in a maximum of two pieces of baggage, within the generous 30, 40, and 50 kg free baggage allowance included in their travel on Economy, Business and First class respectively. Also from 28 May, new rates will apply for excess baggage charges, at 5kg blocks.

 
These revisions apply to all tickets, irrespective of issuance dates for travel from 28 May 2014 onwards. The above guidelines apply for travel on Malaysia Airlines, both domestic and international. It also applies to passengers with domestic connections on MASwings. It does not cover code-share flights operated on other airlines.
 

While the above are changes to checked-in baggage, allowances for infant baggage and the carriage of Zam Zam water from the Holy Land remain the same.

 
The current infant baggage allowance of 1-piece at 10kg still remains the same. This is applicable on First, Business and Economy class cabin.
 

For passengers who perform ‘Umrah and Hajj’ a special allowance of 10kg/10Litres bottle of ‘Zam-Zam’ water is allowed from JED-KUL and onward connecting destinations. This allowance is in addition to the existing ‘Free Baggage Allowance’ of 2-piece per 50kg on First Class, 2-piece per 40kg on Business Class and 2-piece per 30kg on Economy Class.

 
As for hand-carry baggage, guests travelling Economy class are allowed one piece cabin baggage up to a maximum of 7 kg. First and Business Class travellers are allowed two pieces of cabin baggage with a maximum weight of 7 kg each.
 

Enrich and oneworld members are entitled to the additional baggage allowance per their membership status.
