Mallorca’s Golf Son Gual To Host Annual World of Leading Golf WLG Awards

SonGualGolf-27sep16World of Leading Golf (WLG), the organisation representing many of the world’s most renowned golf clubs, will hold its annual awards evening at Golf Son Gual, near Palma, on November 16.

With many member clubs represented on the holiday island of Mallorca at the time, owing to the presence of the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), from November 14-17, WLG officials felt it was the ideal opportunity to gather its membership together for its third prestigious annual showcase.


There are six categories of award to be presented – ‘best member’; ‘best overall impression’; ‘best newcomer’; ‘best course condition’; ‘best service’; and ‘best welcome’ – with nominations, based upon the results of WLG mystery shopper tests, to be announced next month.


The day will begin with breakfast and golf at either Son Gual or its fellow WLG member Club de Golf Alcanada – indisputably the top two courses on the island. Members and guests will then gather late afternoon at Son Gual for the presentation dinner and ‘post-show’ party.



Claus Feldt, WLG’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted that, this year, as the organisation continues to grow, we are able to offer a fuller experience at our awards’ presentation, with golf, dinner and entertainment.

“We are also very pleased to be able to host the event at one of our previous award-winning members, Son Gual, which was voted ‘best member’ in our inaugural awards of 2014. We hope all of our members will choose to come, enjoy the extensive networking opportunities the event presents and be part of what promises to be a very memorable day.”


WLG and its member clubs are passionately committed to preserve golf culture, but not only by heeding to such things as rules, dress code and etiquette – they commit to the very highest of quality standards concerning the design and caretaking of golf courses and services, as well as the levels of ambiance and gastronomy.
