In a continuous effort to support both the local community and on a global causes, Maria Jagla has accepted the latest challenge that has swept the world, by taking the #ALSIceBucketChallenge while raising funds to battle Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Earlier this week, the General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh led the hotel’s planning committee team and accepted the ice bucket challenge. Despite their business obligations even on a weekend, the team managed to get together to undergo this fun task.
After nominating three others to take on the same challenge, buckets of freezing water filled with ice cubes were poured over the heads of the PC team. The three nominees were: Simon Casson and the team at Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, Max Musto and the team at Four Seasons Hotel Moscow, and Olivier Masson and the team at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza. An online donation to the ALS association was also submitted on behalf of Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh.
ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a fatal, progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. This global initiative went viral on social media and became a pop culture phenomenon, particularly in the United States, with numerous celebrities, politicians, athletes, and other people posting videos of themselves on social media.
“We are glad that we have participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and are very proud to have taken this fun challenge for such a great cause,” says Jagla. “We hope to be able to contribute to the ALS association to support research to find a cure for this fatal disease and provide much-needed services to patients and their families.”
