Marriott-300x300-150x150Marriott International , celebrating the 15th anniversary of its Women’s Leadership Development Initiative, has been recognized by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) as one of the country’s top 50 companies for employing executive women. Marriott was ranked in the top 10 on this prestigious list, which recognizes organizations whose policies and practices encourage the advancement of women.

“We are delighted to be recognized once again by NAFE as a leader in developing women executives,” said David Rodriguez, chief global human resources officer. “Taking care of our associates is at the heart of Marriott’s core values, and this acknowledgement by NAFE reflects the achievements of the company’s Women’s Leadership Development Initiative.”

Founded in 1999, the Marriott’s Women’s Leadership Development Initiative aims to increase the presence of women in management or decision-making positions by engaging senior leaders to ensure career development, as well as encouraging current female leaders to drive organizational success.

Across the globe at Marriott, women comprise nearly 60 percent of management.  At least nine women lead divisions worth more than $100 million annually, and female executives on the rise take advantage of a wide variety of dedicated development programs, which offer everything from formal mentoring and coaching to leadership training and succession planning.

Marriott’s emphasis on talent development as well as availability of flexible scheduling for working mothers has landed the company on several leading best places to work lists, including FORTUNE, Working Mother, and LATINA Style.

The National Association for Female Executives (NAFE), founded in 1972, serves 20,000 members nationwide with networking, tools and solutions to strengthen and grow their careers and businesses. Working Mother magazine publishes the annual NAFE Top Companies list.  NAFE.com provides up-to-date information, community for women in business and access to member benefits.
