Melbourne Airport welcomes Malaysia Airlines’ third daily service

1395_22-11-2013_1218-300x200Melbourne Airport has today welcomed the commencement of Malaysia Airlines’ third daily Melbourne-Kuala Lumpur service. Melbourne Airport CEO, Mr Chris Woodruff, celebrated the departure of MH146 from Melbourne Airport earlier this morning.

“Malaysia Airlines’ third daily service highlights the increasing demand for travel between Melbourne and Malaysia.”

“The service also supports stronger ties for our tourism, education and business connections with Malaysia and the global destinations that are part of Malaysia Airlines extensive network.”

“Malaysia is one of Melbourne’s key growth markets with Melbourne accounting for around one third of all travel between Australia and Malaysia at more than 350,000 passengers annually.”

A champagne breakfast was held in the Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge with guests including Consul General of Malaysia (Melbourne) Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Rameez Yahaya, Regional Senior Vice President Australia/New Zealand & South West Pacific Malaysia Airlines Mr. Lee Poh Kait and Melbourne City Councillor Ken Ong.

Malaysia Airlines’ third daily will double capacity, increasing capacity from 7,896 seats per week to 11844 per week.
