Microsoft Bing strikes a deal with TripAdvisor hotel metasearch tool

bing_tripadvisorAs the Google Hotel Finder gains popularity worldwide, Microsoft Bing is making substantial grounds in the US travel sector with a new agreement with TripAdvisor. Microsoft has inked a deal with the hotel review metasearch tool TripAdvisor to be integrated with Bing hotel search results.

The latest partnership with Microsoft and TripAdvisor will let the uS users to monitor hotel availability, compare live hotel prices and watch traveler ratings and reviews on the Bing search page.

TripAdvisor reveals the reason for this agreement stating that it will assist global travelers to plan their itineraries within a a single search tool. It also says it makes it easy for people to make more informed decision about their probable travel.

TripAdvisor went live with its hotel metasearch tool in June after testing it from January this year with early indications from the company showing positive earnings as a result.

The deal also closes a further clause that envisages Microsoft to integrate TripAdvisor in Bing Smart Search within its new Windows 8 mobile application. The move will see pop-up functionality with relevant results enabling users to go directly to the app as well as weblinks. In addition, searches carried out in Windows 8.1 will display hotel rating and reviews content from within the TripAdvisor app quickly informing users what is available if they open the app.

Needless to mention, the fight between technology giants Google and Microsoft is gaining momentum as the travel industry reap dividends from renewed technologies assisting smarter and easier travel.
