Minsk to host art festival of Belarusians living abroad 12-14 September

download-52The second art festival of the Belarusians living abroad will be held in Minsk on 12-14 September during the Day of the City celebrations.The festival will bring together nearly 250 ethnic Belarusians from 18 countries – Argentina, Belgium, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Estonia, Switzerland and France.

Many of the art groups and some performers have already been to Belarus. Others will come to the homeland for the first time. The Minsk audience will welcome pianist Mikhail Yurkov from France, singer Olga Sotnikova-Ramos from Mexico, the art group of the Spaniards who sing in Belarusian and keep traditions of the Belarusian folk art, and a young group Slavic Soul from the French Lyon. Its repertoire includes Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian and French songs.

 
The National History Museum will run the exhibition “We are the Belarusians” dedicated to the Belarusians living abroad. The program of the festival also includes exhibitions featuring the works by artists by the Belarusians abroad, the solo exhibition by Olga Guskova from Belgium and exhibitions of decorative and applied art of the ethnic Belarusians from Russia and Poland.

 

The participants of the festival will be offered a sightseeing tour, a visit to the Museum of the Great Patriotic War and a stroll around the historic places of Minsk. The fifth meeting of the advisory board for the Belarusians living abroad at the Culture Ministry of Belarus will hold a meeting during the festival.The art festival of the Belarusians living abroad was first held in Minsk and Vitebsk in 2011. It was attended by almost 250 people from 12 countries.
