Darrell-Wade-CEO-of-Intrepid-Travel-300x300Mr. Darrell Wade, CEO of Intrepid Travel in an exclusive interview on Nepal, he throws light on the actual conditions of Nepal and how viable it is for tourists to take trips to the destination. Please read the conversation that Travel And Tour World had with Mr. Wade to find out more on Nepal.

Travel And Tour World: How safe is Nepal for tourists now?

Darrell Wade: Nepal is absolutely safe for tourists. As one of the largest tour operators working in Nepal, we saw it as our responsibility to participate in an independent assessment of the safety of the country’s popular trekking routes. We have been given every assurance by Miyamoto, one of the world’s leading seismological assessment firms, that the Annapurna and Everest trekking routes are safe. So, we can’t stress this point enough – come to Nepal, it’s safe, and the country desperately needs tourism to assist in their rebuilding efforts.

Travel And Tour World: Enlighten prospective trekkers and tourists on which places are absolutely safe for trekking. How is the government going to assist the trekkers?

Darrell Wade: The Annapurna route and the Everest route have been cleared for trekking. As with all Intrepid Travel trips, we have safety measures and controls in place and this includes working with local government and other entities as needed.

Travel And Tour World: In case another earthquake were to occur how is the government prepared to offer relief to tourists?

Darrell Wade: Intrepid Travel has a vast network within Nepal that works independently, as well as with the government, to respond to any disruption to a trip. Our message to travelers is simply: Come to Nepal. It’s safe and it’s ready for business. Of course, unforeseen events can and do occur, but as an adventure travel operator with over 25 years of experience, we have the expertise and the resources to help our travelers and the communities we work in should a calamity arise.

Travel And Tour World: What kind of assurance do you wish to provide to tourists who are looking for a trekking expedition to Annapurna? Share as to why you so strongly recommend Annapurna to them.

Darrell Wade: Having just returned from Nepal myself, and having met with some of the most experienced people in seismological assessment, I can assure you that Nepal is safe and ready for travelers. I’m very proud of Intrepid Travel’s response to the earthquake in April – our network within the country was immediately mobilized to help all of our travelers return home safely. At the same time, we took an equally pressing issue – supporting the local communities who depend on tourism.

The most important point that I wish to communicate to travelers is that the spirit of adventure that brings so many travelers to Nepal needs to be rekindled – so I invite everyone to come to Nepal, explore, and of course, consider Intrepid Travel not just for the experience we provide, but for our commitment to safety and to helping the communities in which we work.
