Mta Installs Walkways At Ghadira Bay

Published on : Saturday, June 4, 2016

MaltaThe Malta Tourism Authority has recently installed two new walkways at the popular Ghadira Bay in Mellie?a. Totaling approximately 150 meters in length, the walkways are intended primarily to make the beaches in Ghadira more accessible. Although they may be used by the general public, the walkways were installed particularly for people with special needs who make use of wheelchairs.

Apart from these walkways, new ramps were introduced through which the pavements of Ghadira become more accessible. One can park a vehicle in the special blue parking bays that will be available shortly, and make use of the new ramps which lead directly onto the walkways, to easily get all the way down to the sea.

These developments at Ghadira are part of a larger project which will be officially launched by the Authority in the coming days.

Meanwhile, MTA is actively involved in the development and enhancement of beaches around Malta and Gozo. This year ten beaches attained Blue Flag status, with another two beaches reaching the standard for a Beach of Quality award. Blue Flag is a certificate of quality given by the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) which is represented in Malta by Nature Trust.
