MTPA announces new Chairperson

download-62The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) has announced last week the appointment of Sydney Pierre as the new Chairperson.Pierre brings over 25 years of Travel and Tourism experience, gained both locally and internationally.

 

He has also been involved in numerous projects in the tourism sector, and will play a key role as the MTPA strengthens its focus on increasing tourism to the island.

 

Over the last year, Mauritius tourist arrivals have increased by 2.9% on the previous year with aims to increase these numbers to over 4%.

As Chairperson, Sydney’s main mission is to bring ardent Mauritius enthusiasts from the seven continents together, building a sustainable brand and reputation for Mauritius.

 

Pierre’s passion for the island and tourism makes him the perfect partner to deliver on the MTPA’s plans.

Quoting a journalist from the Mirror, who recently visited the island, ‘Mark Twain was right, the tiny Indian Ocean Island is heavenly.

 

It will be hard to find such beauty and genuine hospitality anywhere else in the world,’ says Pierre ‘I am excited at the challenge and honored to have been given the opportunity to serve a country which has given me so much in my life.
