Network Rail announce Foundry Road site as base for electrification

19-300x202Network Rail has today announced that the Foundry Road site in Cleland will be used as the base for delivering work on the electrification of the Shotts line.Following meetings and discussion with a range of parties to consider operations and to address concerns around potential light and noise, these issues were clarified to a point that enabled a final decision to be made on the location of the yard.

 
Network Rail will work to ensure access to the site operates efficiently and will liaise with the Council’s environmental health officers (EHO’s) to ensure that all appropriate noise and lighting mitigation measures are in place.

 
Network Rail’s spokesperson for the electrification project said, “We appreciate that there was some disquiet in the community around the proposal, but we believe that we have approached the analysis and scoring of potential sites in an open and clear manner and reached the best overall decision.

 

“We will work to ensure access to the site operates efficiently and will liaise with the Council’s environmental health officers (EHO’s) to ensure that all appropriate noise and lighting mitigation measures are in place.“We remain committed to an ongoing and constructive dialogue with the community in Cleland and to maintain a positive relationship during this project”.
