image_Leitartikel-TeaserVisitors to the city will have the option of a 48 hour Vienna Card as well as the established 72 hour version. Retailing at EUR 18.90, it entitles the holder to free travel on the subway, bus, and tram networks and lets them claim discounts at more than 210 participating ventures.

The price for a 72 hour Vienna Card will be EUR 21.90 from 1 April 2014.

Available from April 1, 2014, for the first time, the new 48 hour Vienna Card costs EUR 18.90 and offers all of the same advantages as the 72 hour version, which came out top in a 2012 survey of 16 European city cards conducted by the Austrian Automobile, Motorcycle and Touring Club (ÖAMTC) and 17 of its partner clubs.

Both options give visitors to the city free travel on all the city’s public transportation (subway, bus, tram).

It also includes reduced fares between the airport and the city center: by City Airport Train (CAT) for EUR 11 instead of EUR 12, and by Vienna Airport Lines buses for EUR 7 instead of EUR 8 (one-way).

Additionally, one child aged 14 or under (photo ID required) per Vienna Card holder is entitled to free transport.

. Both cards are valid from the issue date, while the integrated Wiener Linien travel pass is valid for 48 or 72 hours after the ticket is validated.

Vienna Card holders can continue to claim discounts for the whole of the day on which the card expires.

Holders of the 48 hour Vienna Card and the 72 hour Vienna Card can claim discounts from more than 210 partners. All of Vienna’s best-loved attractions, countless shops, leisure facilities, museums, theaters, concert halls, restaurants, cafés and heuriger wine taverns participate in the Vienna Card scheme.

Buyers of the Vienna Card are given a coupon booklet, which also explains how to use the card. The price of the 72 hour Vienna Card will go up from EUR 19.90 to EUR 21.90 on April 1, 2014.

The Vienna Card is available from hotels, Tourist Info Vienna on Albertinaplatz (open daily 09:00-19:00), Tourist Info at Vienna International Airport (open daily 06:00-23:00), public transport ticket and information counters (e.g. Stephansplatz, Karlsplatz, Westbahnhof, Landstrasse/Wien Mitte).
