New Appointment: Sean Dee appointed in the BOD by Hawaii Tourism Authority

DeeSean_Aloha_3x4-225x300Sean Dee, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Outrigger Enterprises Group, has been nominated by Hawaii Governor, Neil Abercrombie, to the board of directors of the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA). The position is an interim appointment subject to state Senate approval with Dee’s at-large HTA seat beginning July 1, 2014.
“This is an exciting opportunity and I am honored to have been nominated by the Governor to this important position,” Dee said. “As the state’s number one industry, it is imperative that Hawaii do all possible to ensure the health and viability of the visitor industry.

 

I look forward to combining my marketing and hotel industry background and knowledge with the other members of the HTA board to continue the exciting efforts of the state and HTA in ensuring Hawaii remains competitive in this global environment.”

 

 
As executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Outrigger Enterprises Group, Hawaii’s largest locally owned hotel company with a 67 year history as a leader in Hawaii’s visitor industry, Dee is responsible for developing and deploying global marketing and brand strategies for the company’s portfolio of premier resorts and accommodation choices in Hawaii and across the Asia-Pacific region and the Indian Ocean.

 

 
Dee brings to Outrigger and the HTA board an extensive background in global marketing and hospitality. Prior to joining Outrigger in 2013, Dee spent four years as executive vice president, chief marketing officer and president of global branding for Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), one of the leading sports and entertainment presenters in the world. While at AEG, Dee was appointed to the board of directors and executive committee for L.A. Inc. (now known as Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board), a nonprofit that oversees all tourism and convention center sales and marketing efforts on behalf of the city and county of Los Angeles.

 

 

Before AEG, Dee was chief marketing officer for Hard Rock International, Inc., and gained additional global marketing experience at Levi Strauss & Co., and Foote, Cone & Belding. Dee earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Stanford University.
