Beginning Saturday, November 16, an ordinance approved by the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners on November 5 will require anyone parking at Miami International Airport with a disabled parking permit or license tag to pay standard airport parking rates, except as provided by Florida state law.
Vehicles displaying a disabled parking permit or license tag will be allowed up to two hours of free parking, and in accordance with Florida state law, no parking charges will be imposed on any vehicle with specialized equipment such as ramps, lifts, foot or hand controls for use by a person with a disability or on any vehicle displaying the Florida Toll Exemption permit.
Prior to the ordinance taking effect, MIA was the only airport in Florida to allow all vehicles with a disabled parking permit or license tag to be parked free of charge for an unlimited time.
