New Zealand’s nature, fishing and camping experiences have featured on Japan travel show ‘Another Sky’, one of Japan’s most popular travel shows for younger viewers and a key channel to targeting our Fun Seeking Friends segment.
The premise of the show is to follow a celebrity as they visit their ‘second home’ or a country they have always admired. Successful model and TV talent ‘Rola’ took viewers on a tour of New Zealand during the 25 minute episode introducing Tekapo as the home of the world’s most beautiful night sky, while also profiling Nelson and Canterbury.
With an audience of eight million and over 44,000 Facebook fans, Another Sky’s episode on New Zealand generated significant interest on social media in Japan including on Rola’s own blog and on Tourism New Zealand’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
The producers NTV visited New Zealand with the support of Tourism New Zealand’s International Media Program, a program which aims to gain compelling, high-profile media coverage to motivate our target market to travel to New Zealand.
