Nine injured in gun fire at popular tourist hub in New Orleans

Nine-injured-in-gun-fire-at-popular-tourist-hub-in-New-Orleans-300x200Open gunfire in Bourbon Street New Orleans, in the early hours of Sunday morning injured nine people. The shooting incident took place at 2.45a.m. in the French Quarter.

Initial reports suggested that seven people were injured.

 

The shooting occurred on a personal feud between two people and people moving around in the busy tourist spot were taken by surprise when they were hit by gunfire.
 
The victims were rushed to nearby hospitals. Two out of the nine are seriously injured and the rest though injured did not suffer life threatening injuries.
 
Some of the injured were touring New Orleans. Those responsible for the shooting have not been caught yet and the police have gone through surveillance video but haven’t been able to identify the actual miscreants. The police are trying to search for eye witnesses who would be able to throw some light on the incident and the culprits.

 

The 700 block, where the shooting occurred, is a popular gathering place for tourists and revelers, where many of them pack bars and clubs between St. Peter and St. Ann Streets. Crowds often spill into the streets. The scene is around the corner from other famed attractions, such as jazz concert venue Preservation Hall and the popular bar Pat O’Brien’s.
