Tourism NI Chief Executive John McGrillen has congratulated four golf courses from counties Antrim and Fermanagh on being accredited with a Golf Quality and Assurance award.
The addition of Ballyclare, Knock and Dunmurry parkland courses to the award scheme and the Castle Hume lakeland course at Lough Erne Resort brings the total of accredited golf clubs in Northern Ireland to 35.
Representatives from the four clubs were recently presented with their quality assurance certificates by John McGrillen at an event in Ballyclare Golf Club.
Tourism NI established the Golf Quality and Assurance scheme to raise the bar when it comes to standards at golf clubs, with a special emphasis on customer service for visiting golfers.
John McGrillen said: “With our major-winning players and some of the best courses in the world, the Northern Ireland golf offering is world-class.
“Having high standards for our golf industry means visitors can be sure of a quality experience at every step, from arrival at the car park, the welcome and reception, the clubhouse facilities and services as well as the golf course itself. I am delighted to see these four clubs embrace the standards and I congratulate them on their commitment to providing a quality visitor experience.
“With the biggest event in world golf heading to Royal Portrush in 2019, there is no doubt this is the moment to capitalise. We now have 35 courses showing the way in terms of a quality offering for golf visitors, and I would encourage others to do the same in the run up to this momentous event.”
As members of the scheme the courses receive a variety of marketing platforms and promotional opportunities from Tourism NI to promote their offering.
They include web site and brochure presences, digital promotions and opportunities at event stands such as the Irish Open and Northern Ireland Open.
