NYC & Company Launches First-Ever #NYCRESTAURANTWEEK Photo Contest To Kick Off NYC RESTAURANT WEEK WINTER 2014 Starting Today

Published on : Sunday, February 16, 2014

NYC-COmpanyNYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, today launched the Company’s first-ever #NYCRestaurantWeek Photo Contest, on Instagram, to help kick off NYC Restaurant Week Winter 2014, which starts today and runs through March 7. The social media contest encourages diners who visit participating restaurants to take photos of their experience and post them on Instagram using the #NYCRestaurantWeek hashtag for a chance to win $500 or more in gift cards to select NYC restaurants. Each of the three celebrity judges—Geoffrey Zakarian, Tasting Table’s Todd Coleman and NYC food photographer Daniel Krieger—will choose one winning picture per week for three weeks during NYC Restaurant Week.

“We are pleased to launch this exciting new photo contest on Instagram to further engage New Yorkers and visitors during this winter’s NYC Restaurant Week,” said Fred Dixon, interim president and CEO of NYC & Company. “This new social media vehicle will further encourage foodies to share their dining experiences with friends, family and the Instagram community, and ultimately inspire others to take part in this signature New York City event.

“NYC Restaurant Week Winter 2014 is an opportunity for our guests to celebrate dining at almost 300 of our city’s best restaurants. We hope they’ll share their experiences as our restaurant community demonstrates the quality, variety and hospitality that makes New York City the restaurant capital of the world,” said Tracy Nieporent, chairman of NYC & Company’s Restaurant Committee.

Diners who snap a photo of their NYC Restaurant Week experience—whether it’s a picture of what’s on their plate, whom they are dining with or where they are eating—and post the photo on Instagram with #NYCRestaurantWeek will be prompted by @nycrestaurantweek to submit a contest entry form. Contest participants will then have the chance to win $500 or more in gift cards to select NYC Restaurants. Once per week, a celebrity judge will select a winning photo. Geoffrey Zakarian, Tasting Table editorial staff and NYC photographer Daniel Krieger will choose a total of three winners during the three-week promotion. No purchase is necessary to enter and win. Please visit nycgo.com/restaurantweek to view the official rules.

During NYC Restaurant Week, nearly 300 of the City’s top restaurants will offer three-course prix-fixe lunches for $25 and three-course prix-fixe dinners for $38 (excluding beverages, gratuities and taxes). NYC Restaurant Week Winter 2014 operates Monday through Friday, with Saturdays excluded and Sundays optional. For a complete list of participating restaurants and to make NYC Restaurant Week reservations, visit nycgo.com/restaurantweek.

The #NYCRestaurantWeek Photo Contest, on Instagram, is the second social media campaign driven by NYC Restaurant Week Winter 2014. For a week leading up to reservations opening on February 10, NYC & Company released a video each day inviting New Yorkers and visitors to pronounce dining-related words. The videos aired on nycgo.com/restaurantweek, Taxi TV and were shared on social media.

Google Maps returns this year as a Participating Sponsor of NYC Restaurant Week. Guests can use Google Maps to get directions, check out reviews and preview dining destinations with Street View and Google Maps Business Photos, a premium-quality 360-degree interactive virtual tour inside participating restaurants. A case study found that on average, restaurant listings with Google Maps Business Photos had a 30% higher click-through rate to reservations during NYC Restaurant Week Summer 2013.

NYC Restaurant Week Winter 2014 is produced by NYC & Company and presented by Founding Sponsor American Express and Participating Sponsor Google Maps.

In addition to City bus shelters and videos on taxicab monitors, NYC Restaurant Week Winter 2014 media will be featured approximately once per 4 minutes on the Toshiba Vision screens in Times Square February 17 through March 7.
