Australian luxury travellers have voted New Zealand ‘Best overseas country’ in this year’s Luxury Travel magazine’s Gold List Awards.Justin Watson, Director Trade, PR and Major Events, says the win is a strong reinforcement of the quality premium products and experiences New Zealand has to offer all high-value visitors.
“Taking the top spot over Italy and France is a fantastic achievement with this niche group of travellers in the country that provides our largest source of visitors each year.”The acknowledgement coincides with Tourism New Zealand’s work to increase awareness of New Zealand’s premium experience and products, and grow the number of high-value visitors.
New Zealand featured heavily in the awards, with Cape Kidnappers topping the list for ‘Best overseas golf resort’; Aro Ha in Queenstown taking ‘Best new property to visit’; and Taupo’s Huka Lodge taking top place for both ‘Best overseas boutique property, villa or lodge’ and ‘Best New Zealand property within driving distance of the city’.
“It is great to see some of New Zealand’s top premium experiences being acknowledged time and again. This is the third year in a row Cape Kidnappers Golf Course has won the ‘Best overseas golf resort’ award,” says Justin.”Added to this we have New Zealand’s Kauri Cliffs and Millbrook courses rounding out the top four, acknowledging New Zealand’s world class golf offering on the international stage.”
The Australian luxury magazine celebrated its 10th annual Gold List Awards this year, which sees thousands of luxury travellers vote for hundreds of luxury offerings from around the world.Since the awards started they have grown to include 34 categories and hundreds of hotels, resorts, boutique properties, cruises, rail journeys, adventure travel, food and wine and many more luxury experiences.
