Oman Air pledges support for 7th AIESEC GulfCo in Muscat

Grope-ImageOman Air has pledged its support for the 7th AIESEC GulfCo event, which was held in Muscat between 17th and 19th October 2013. The national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman was the Airline Sponsor of the conference, which equips young people with knowledge, skills and regional networks, as well as helping to put Oman on the map as a cradle of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Dr. Khalid Abdul Wahab Ahmed Al Balushi, Senior Manager Government Relations and Sustainability at Oman Air, commented:

As Oman’s national airline, we work hard to help young people to develop the skills and experience they need to play a full, productive and rewarding part in the Sultanate’s future. Our sponsorship of AIESEC GulfCo is the latest in a series of events and initiative that we have undertaken under the leadership of our CEO, Wayne Pearce, and we look forward to seeing conference delegates make valuable contributions to shaping the nation’s future over coming years.”

AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-run organisation, whose international platform enables young people to explore and develop their leadership potential with the aim of having a positive impact on society. Operating within 124 countries and territories, AIESEC has more than 60 years’ experience of developing high-potential students into globally-minded responsible leaders. The organisation has more than 86,000 members around the globe, and over 5,000 partners, including large corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, governments, NGOs and the UN.

AISEC in Gulf works in six countries – Oman, Bahrain, Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE – and offers development opportunities for more than 300 talented AIESEC members from more than 25 top universities in the region by connecting young people with the corporate world. In Oman, working with the Ministry of Higher Education, AIESEC has more than 100 members and operates within 14 universities and colleges in Muscat and Sohar. To date, the organisation in Oman has arranged over 10 conferences, 150 international exchanges and more than 400 AIESEC experiences for Omani students.
