One-passenger-dead-in-plane-crash-in-luxury-ski-resort-of-Aspen-300x158One person was killed on board as a private jet crashed and exploded into flames in the luxury ski resort of Aspen as horrified onlookers and passengers watched the ghastly site.

There were three people in the aircraft when it crashed on the runway, overturned and burst into flames. One passenger was killed while another suffered major injuries and the third passenger is relatively out of danger with only minor injuries.

The plane is said to have attempted a few approaches before crashing and overturning. It then burst into flames.

Fire truck and ambulances were on the scene within minutes. The airport had to be closed.

The reason for the crash has not yet been recovered and investigation is on. The crash may have occurred due to high winds, bad angle which may have happened upon landing.

Emergency crews hose a private plane that crashed and burst into flames on the runway at Aspen airport on 04.01.14 afternoon. The plane that crashed was a Bombardier Challenger 600 en route from Tucson, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
