ONYX Announces Key Appointments to the North Asia Management Team

unnamed43Thailand-based ONYX Hospitality Group announced appointments to two key positions in its North Asia management team.Tommy Lai was named Vice President of ONYX North Asia.

 

 

 

Based in Hong Kong, Lai holds the role as head of North Asia, and is responsible in leading the operations and business development of all brands in the region.

 

 

The North Asia region comprises China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. At the same time, Mael Vastine will take up the role of Area General Manager, Hong Kong. In this capacity, Vastine will oversee all brands, including new projects in Hong Kong, and continue to lead OZO Wesley Hong Kong.
Lai has close to 20 years of experience in the financial, real estate and hospitality industries. He joined ONYX in 2012 as Vice President, Development of ONYX North Asia. In the past years, he expanded the Shama and OZO portfolios in Hong Kong and China, as well as secured new Amari deals for the region. Before joining ONYX, Lai managed the Investment and Business Division of a multi-billion, cross-border joint-venture project, between the governments of Singapore and China.
On the other hand, Vastine joined the company in 2014 as General Manager of OZO Wesley Hong Kong, where he was responsible for the overall operations of the group’s first OZO hotel. Prior to joining ONYX, Vastine was the Resident Manager of the Ibis Hong Kong Central and Sheung Wan Hotel.
ONYX is currently expanding its footprint across North Asia. Its portfolio consists of 24 properties in the region, including 13 in the pipeline, which include the recently signed Shama Xiangnanli Chengdu and Hotel 108. All of these equate to more than 3,100 rooms.
