Overseas Media Discover the Wonders of Ireland’s Ancient East

Ancient-East-fam-small(2)Seven top journalists from India, Canada, the UK, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Spain have arrived in Ireland to learn more about Fáilte Ireland’s new tourism initiative, Ireland’s Ancient East. This is just one of a number of visits designed, hosted and managed by Fáilte Ireland, in collaboration with Tourism Ireland, to promote its newest tourism initiative.

 

These journalists write for some of the most influential newspapers worldwide including The Hindu in India, which has a circulation of 1.5 million and the Canada Sun, with 1 million. The group will take in counties Wicklow, Wexford, Kilkenny, Kildare and Meath while in Ireland..
Fáilte Ireland have designed a bespoke itinerary to give the journalists a first-hand experience of Ireland’s Ancient East and highlights include a visit to Killruddery House and Gardens, Wicklow; Loftus Hall, in Wexford, reputed to be Ireland’s most haunted house; experience the ancient Irish sporting heritage of hurling with Kilkenny Way Hurling Experience; meeting Mark Jenkinson, The Cider Mill, Cockagee Cider in Meath to learn about the long lost Irish Cider ‘cac a gheidh’, to name but a few.

 

Jenny De Saulles, Fáilte Ireland’s Head of Programmes for Ireland’s Ancient East, explained: –

“Ireland’s Ancient East is an evolving project, and we are actively working to gain publicity in international publications which will help to persuade visitors to include our new tourism proposition in their itinerary when in Ireland. Ireland’s Ancient East is an ideal fit with our history, culture, landscapes and pace of life which continue to be a big draw for overseas visitors and these visiting media are interested in learning more about Ireland, which it is a testimony to the strength of our attraction that they are here.”
