Celebrate the upcoming Autumnal Equinox with some of the region’s best wine. The Long Island Rail Road is offering a package deal for a Long Island Wine Country full-day escorted tour on Saturday, September 13. Your visit to the beautiful North Fork includes round-trip rail and bus transportation, wine tastings at two vineyards, and time to explore the seaport Village of Greenport.
Your tour begins at Duck Walk Vineyards Tasting Room in Cutchogue. Soak in the scene at one of their two custom tasting room bars as well as their expansive outdoor patio surrounded by 30 acres of Sauvignon Blanc grape vines.
Next, you’ll travel east to the quaint village of Greenport where you can buy lunch, that is often locally caught in the adjacent waters, and browse the many unique shops and boutiques. Some restaurants offer dockside dining and a view of the historic waterfront. If there’s time, take a ride on the antique carousel in Mitchell Park.
The last stop on the tour will be the North Shore’s Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard in Baiting Hollow. On this three-and-a-half acre property, you’ll learn about the wine-making process from vine to bottle and sample the finished product in this warm, family atmosphere.
