Park 75 Adds Local Twist to Classic Cocktail at Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta

TWIST-TO-CLASSIC-300x168Looking for a new spot to try the hottest – or better yet, coldest – cocktails in town? Park 75 mixologists have redefined the classic Rum and Coke using Richland Rum and other ingredients sourced within 100 miles (160 kilometres) of Atlanta.

The Rum: This local, award-winning rum is handcrafted in Georgia’s rural area of Richland. Topped off with Park 75’s house-made cola, the Park 75 Lounge team have aptly named the cocktail, “The Richland Rum and Coke.” Nothing says “Home of the South” quite like a homemade cola paired with local rum that’s shaken and poured over pecan smoked ice cubes. USD 14.00.

Park 75 at Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta ventured out to the Richland Rum distillery, nestled just south of Atlanta, in search of the perfect flavours to add a punch to its homemade cola. The rum is copper pot distilled, using pure cane grown in Richland, and then aged in virgin American oak barrels to enhance its unique taste.

The Coke: Park 75’s homemade cola is a welcome departure from the traditional as it incorporates fresh zests of lemon, lime, orange and dried lavender. Unique spices such as crushed coriander seeds and whole star anise are added to brown sugar and water, then carbonated with Park 75’s soda machine.

“We have long been supporters of local flavours,” says Executive Chef Robert Gerstenecker. “After experiencing this refreshing cocktail, you won’t be able to get Georgia off your mind. The ingredients are rich and you can taste the freshness in every sip.”

The Richland Rum cocktail pairs perfectly with Chef Gerstenecker’s homemade (and locally-made) Georgia olive oil crackers and pimento cheese appetizer. This irresistible creamy spread has a hint of heat from the chopped peppers that are freshly picked from the Hotel’s fifth floor terrace garden. The pimento cheese is served with a side of handmade crackers using a blend of semolina and whole wheat flour mixed with Lakeland, Georgia’s olive oil. The starter, along with the Richland Rum cocktail, makes for a perfect locally-grown, summer evening.
