Last week Park Hotel Amsterdam officially received the Green Globe certification label.
Recently the hotel has been independently audited and after completing all the criteria,
Park Hotel is awarded with the prestigious membership of the Green Globe program.
Green Globe is the worldwide sustainability system based on internationally-accepted
criteria for sustainable operation and management of travel and tourism business.
Green Globe provides Park Hotel a framework so the hotel can control their
sustainability process, monitor and improve it.
“In addition to manage a sustainable policy, the social responsibility is also an
important pillar within Park Hotel”, says Regional Managing Director Bram van der Hoek.
“Green Globe practices three pillars which all create support within our organization.
Not only the environment is an important aspect, but also local initiatives which
stimulate social developments are very important, for example an initiative as The
Gallery Zone, an exhibition space in the hotel. It’s important to involve local people and
our own staff members in these processes, this way we notice that people are more
aware of it, says Van der Hoek.
Also hotel guests, suppliers and other parties are involved in the sustainability policy of
Park Hotel. Guests get the option of deciding how often their towels and bed linen will
be replaced during their stay, suppliers are asked to think about environmentally
friendly product options and processes and whenever it is possible, Park Hotel make
use of local and organic products.
The Green Globe certification project was managed by “Duurzame Hotels Nederland”,
specialist in sustainable business within the hotel industry. “Park Hotel Amsterdam is a
wonderful example of a luxury boutique hotel, situated in an monumental premises,
who knows how to create an ideal balance between ecological, economical and social
interests”, says Sarah Jenny, Director of Duurzame Hotels Nederland.
