airplane_xlarge1Terror gripped passengers on a plane as a man claimed that there was a bomb on board and tried to hijack the plane to Sochi – the Russian city hosting the Winter Olympics.

The event happened amidst the ongoing terror threats that have plagued the Russian city in recent times.
The Pegasus Airlines’ crew immediately responded by sending a ‘hijacking alert’ to Turkey’s Air Force Control Center.

About 20 minutes later two F-16 fighter jets were deployed to intercept the concerned plane.

The plane safely landed at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokeen airport. The alleged ‘hijacker’ was taken into custody.

Initial investigations reveal that the threat was false and apparently there wasn’t any bomb on the plane.

Istanbul’s governor tweeted “the air pirate has been neutralized” and all other passengers “disembarked from the plane without any problems.”

There were 109 passengers on board.
