nr-2013-11-01-cyarnell-300x199A selection of photographs by Orange County artist Carolyn Yarnell are on exhibit November 1, 2013, through December 5, 2013, in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal as part of John Wayne Airport’s Community Focus Space Program. Yarnell’s works can be seen on the Departure (upper) Level near the security screening areas in Terminals A, B and C and on the Arrival (lower) Level adjacent to Baggage Carousels 1 and 4.

The majority of Yarnell’s photos feature “fantasy photography”: surreal themes of real life images, an example of which can be seen below.
“My photographs are not clear representations of places or things, they are rather like fleeting frozen moments perceived from great distances through the curved lens of time,” said the artist.
Carolyn Yarnell is an American composer and visual artist. She studied composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Yale University, where she received her Master’s degree. Yarnell is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Fellowship in music and oil painting, a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Rome Prize. As a photographer she successfully combines visual with musical elements in her landscapes.
