Porter-AirlinesPorter Airlines is marking its five-year anniversary of service to Thunder Bay, the airline’s initial venture into Northern Ontario.

There is currently up to five daily roundtrip flights between Thunder Bay and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport after starting with a schedule of three flights.

Porter is celebrating this milestone in Thunder Bay today with a ceremonial water cannon salute for the arrival of Flight 631 at 10 a.m.

A pair of roundtrip tickets to any Porter destination will also be provided to a passenger on each of today’s five Thunder Bay departures.

“Thunder Bay was the starting point for our now four Northern Ontario destinations,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines.

“The response to Porter in Northern Ontario has been overwhelming.

Thunder Bay residents have really embraced our convenient schedule, affordable fares and ‘flying refined’ service.”

Since beginning service in 2009, Porter has carried more than 640,000 passengers to and from Thunder Bay.

Billy Bishop Airport’s convenient downtown Toronto location and complimentary Porter amenities, such as airport lounge access, beer and wine onboard, and snacks, continue to be favourites for travellers.

Connecting flights via Billy Bishop are also popular for reaching other Porter destinations, including Ottawa, Montreal, Boston and Washington.

“Five years of success in Thunder Bay is directly attributable to the dedication of our team and the loyalty of our passengers,” said Deluce. “We look forward to the years to come.”
