The theme for this year’s Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival, on from 13 to 29 June 2014, is ‘Mediterranean Sea – between dream and reality’. The festival is celebrating its 60th anniversary with more than 60 concerts, operas, open-air performances and the much-loved Cycling Concert.
All this takes place amid the mediterranean-like setting of Potsdam’s palaces and parks, which enjoy UNESCO World Heritage status.
From Sardinian choral folksong to Andalusian flamenco, from the songs of the Sephardi Jews to Italian opera – there is something for music lovers of every kind. As well as various guided tours and open rehearsals, you can enjoy the premiere of ‘The Golden Apple’, a baroque opera for all the senses.
