Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture chaired a meeting attended by tourism representatives of Praslin at the Raffles Resort of Praslin on the question of a dedicated fiesta on Praslin and for Praslin. Present also at the meeting were the elected Members of the National Assembly (MNA) for Grand Anse and Baie Sainte Anne Praslin Mr Marc Volcere and Mrs Natasha Esther, PS for Culture Benjamine Rose, PS for Tourism Anne Lafortune, CEO of the National Arts Council Jimmy Savy, Principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy Flavien Joubert, the Deputy CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board Nathalie Didon and Michel Gardette the CEO of the Fond Ferdinand Nature Park.
The dedicated Praslin Fiesta will follow in the spirit of the ‘Fete de la Musique’ of Praslin in 1979 when a ‘Pierre de L’Unite’ was erected at the Vallee de Mai entrance. The first edition of the Praslin Culinary & Arts Fiesta will be held from the 5 to the 7 of September 2014 with an opening ceremony in Grande Anse and the second’s days activities in the Baie Sainte Anne District.
During the meeting at the Raffles Resort it was discussed that recipes for cakes, tarts and ice cream would be used using the unique coco de mer kernel, a produce that is today exported to the Far East because of its ‘aphrodisiac’ qualities. Other authentic Seychelles delicacies with secret recipes would also be prepared for all to eat during that Praslin Island extravaganza.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Culture and its Tourism Board are answering a call made by the elected representatives of the island of Praslin to organise a National Event on Praslin and for Praslin. We needed and event that would be completely different and that would be used to position the island of Praslin on the world tourism circuit as we deliver for Praslin a fiesta for all the Praslinois at the same time” said Minister St.Ange at the Raffles Resort meeting confirmed that Praslin will have its first edition of its Praslin Culinary & Arts Fiesta in September.
